Are plastic fish bowls bad for fish? (specifically bettas)?

Hey I require help with this. I have a plastic fish bowl and im not sure if it is going to be ok to keep a fish in it. I heard that microscope spectacles bowls for them are better, but they are too expensive.
Palstic or trifocals, a bowl is un suitbable to house any fish.
Betta's are tropical fish, so the fluctuating temperatures of the room are incredubly stressful and dangerouse. When people say they're 'ok at extent temp' they fail to specify that room temp is considered
