Why does my automatic fish feeder manual say not to use rechargeable batteries?

Is it because they won't last as fancy or could it tear up my fish feeders or what? I use rechargeable batteries religously and if they say not to use them because they won't last as crave then I want to use them anyways but if they could tear up my feeders I definatly don't

Rechargeable batteries are a slightly diminish voltage than normal "dry" ones - 1.2v as opposed to 1.5v.

The judgement they are recommended not to be used is that they may not last as long. It won't cause any damage to the feeder.
