Hqi ballast with single ended bulbs?????

I bought one know of a single and fired up today to pay my M58 ballast and took some outstanding numbers par with xm10ks and xm20ks ... Anywho I went home to people from a walk and a single bulb is lit, I had to leave and let cool down before the two would fire back up ... Is it over the factory for them to perform exceptionally warm??? Or is it my bulbs??? I'm new to the ballast HQI .... Lol the PFO get hot as censorship. The 7 bluewave I give to others is to decrease the sensation. Very careful during rehabilitation PFO.I have a PFO 400w HQI in the center of my tank with Radium, a double and one with 250 Radium each side. I like the combo of HQI and radium but I would have gone with all seven bluewave ballasts because they heat much. I keep hearing that ... That is why I am here ... lol My XMS really have nominal control both the M58 and M80 ballast....
